Combined treatments for the oval of the face

Nowadays, the approach adopted in aesthetic medicine is COMPREHENSIVE and often involves combining various techniques. Combined treatments enable us to achieve natural results that are also more effective.

After a detailed clinical analysis, a personalised treatment plan is recommended for each patient. The different treatments that I personally like to combine are: hyaluronic acid injections, tensor threads, radiofrequency, and sometimes cryolipolysis for treating a double chin.

The oval of the face and the sagging skin that goes with it are the most complex things to correct, and we need to treat several areas using different techniques to achieve a satisfactory result.

THE KEY AREAS OF THE FACE: CHEEKBONES AND CHIN

A loss of definition in the oval and sagging skin are the last clinical signs of aging in the face. When they appear, it means that the volumes of the cheekbones and chin have disappeared, and that nasolabial folds, expression lines and jowls have already set in. All of the anatomical structures of the face have aged and changed.

First of all, we need to recreate the lost volumes. The two areas where we recommend restoring the volumes with hyaluronic acid injections are the cheekbones and the chin. These two areas are the structural supports or essential foundations for rejuvenating the face. Treating these areas has a direct and indirect effect on improving skin sagging and the oval. A lifting effect is achieved by tightening up these two areas. The cheekbones support the middle third of the face and the chin supports the lower third. We do not want to create volumes that never existed, but rather restore those that have been lost with age. The integrity and solidity of these regions will enable the face to age better. The injections are performed either using a micro-cannula (Softfilling technique) or a very fine needle, in a doctor’s surgery. Results are visible immediately. The after-effects are mild, with just slight bruising or swelling. The effects last between 18 and 24 months. After treating the structural elements of the face, such as the cheekbones and chin, the contours can then be treated: the nasolabial folds, expression lines and line of the oval can be improved using hyaluronic acid injections.

TENSOR THREADS

Tensor threads enable us to treat moderate skin sagging that persists even after the face’s volumes have been restored. The threads are inserted under the skin using very fine needles and their barbs tighten up the treatment areas in addition to stimulating collagen production, to improve skin sagging. They are a useful complement to hyaluronic acid injections.

RADIOFREQUENCY

This treatment has a complementary tightening effect on the line of the oval, the chin and the neck. Radiofrequency is a technology that heats the collagen in the dermis. The collagen retracts, immediately improving the skin quality and firming it up. The treatment stimulates new collagen synthesis, bringing about a significant and long-lasting change in the skin. The skin is firmer, and its texture is improved.

CRYOLIPOLYSIS WITH THE COOLMINI FOR TREATING A DOUBLE CHIN

When treating the oval of the face, it is essential to treat any sign of a double chin. Cryolipolysis enables us to eliminate any under-chin fat without surgery or anaesthetic.

The treatment of the oval of the face, along with the sagging skin that goes with it, is highly complex and requires a personalised and sophisticated treatment plan that combines several techniques to target the different signs of aging. A sequence of very precise treatments must be performed on the different anatomical areas in order to optimise the results.
