PDT Light Therapy
PDT LIGHT THERAPY
Photo dynamic therapy (PDT) utilities a chemical reaction activated by light energy (LED light) to selectively treat specific skin conditions.
It works on the principle that cells that cause the above problems are metabolically more active and produce large amounts of a substance called porphyrin. These porphyrins are sensitive to certain types of light, and when exposed to light can produce toxic oxygen free radicals that destroy cells in the very nearby vicinity. Because these oxygen free radicals do not actually travel far, they are very specific to the cells that create the porphyrins, hence it is possible to specifically target the problem cells without damaging normal ones.
How does Photo dynamic Therapy work in acne patients?
PDT- Light is thought to treat acne by two primary mechanisms. First, it shrinks the skin’s oil glands (sebaceous glands) that contribute to acne formation. This can drastically reduce the amount of oil within the pores, thereby reducing comedones (blackheads and whiteheads). Second, PDT also kills the bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) that live on facial skin and cause acne breakouts. In addition, PDT seems to improve the skin’s overall texture, and may speed the resolution of acne-induced discoloration (red or dark spots that remain after the pimples have resolved).
Photo dynamic Therapy( PDT) improves sun-damaged skin
Photo dynamic Therapy (PDT) greatly improves sun-damaged skin, fine lines, blotchy pigmentation and rough skin patches. PDT even has the unique ability to minimize pores and reduce oil glands. The therapy involves an application of a topical photosensitizing agent called Levulan. Levulan is a substance that is naturally occurring in the body. When applied topically, it is selectively absorbed into rapidly growing photo damaged skin, sebaceous glands, hair follicles and actinic keratoses (AKs). Using light from either our IPL or BLU-U light sources converts the Levulan into a photosensitizing agent, and it destroys the target cells. The skin improves in both texture and tone. If you have large pores of active acne, you’ll see amazing results.
The aging process
The first signs of aging are when fine lines begin to form around the eyes and lips. Then the collagen and elastin begins to wear out and deeper lines and grooves form in our brow, next to the nose and down to the corners of our mouths. Surface irregularities such as pigment discolorations and acne scarring may also occur.
Many clients wish that there were a safe, easy and quick way to get rid of their red complexion, fine wrinkles, irregular pigmentation and large pores. Fortunately, our advanced technologies enable us to treat these skin imperfections safely, easily and effectively with very little, if any, downtime.
The benefits of Photo Rejuvenation:
Healthier-looking skin
Smoother skin
Reduced pore size
More even skin tone
Reduced redness
Reduced wrinkle size
Reduced Active, cystic, or inflammatory Acne
Reduced Hyperpigmetation, Sun-damaged skin

What results can expect?
After each session, you will experience some improvement in skin tone and texture. Sunspots will fade. Pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in severity as the new collagen forms beneath the skin.
