Anti Melanoma and an aphrodisiac
Skin firming Anti-inflammatory Naturally derived and ethically sourced Stable Safe SOURCE Kigafirm is a targeted extract of Kigelia africana fruit that maximises firming and anti-inflammatory activity. The tree occurs throughout Africa and produces fruit that grow up to 60cm long and weigh up to 7kg. Kigelia africana has been traditionally used for breast firming in central Africa. A CT I V I T Y Several publications in the academic literature have shown that extracts of Kigelia show anti-inflammatory activity with low toxicity. The skin firming capacity of the extract has been shown in independent trials. The extract showed an 8% increase in skin firmness after 14 days and 13% increase after 28 days. The extract also showed a 6,4% increase in skin elasticity in 14 days and 9,8 % increase in 28 days.
Kigelia africana extract has been shown to possess anti-melanoma and anti-tumour properties and has been shown to be an active aphrodisiac. These properties were interesting but the real target of our research was the skin firming and antiinflammatory potential of this plant.
Kigelia africana contains verminocide that confers antiinflammatory activity and anti-nociceptive activity with very low toxicity (LD50 or 1,3g/kg). Verminocide has been shown to inhibit NO release from LPS – stimulated macrophages by up to 83% at very low concentrations with similar iNOS results.
