The role of physicians and medical specialties in a “medical spa” are included, as well as an ongoing maintenance regimes. The book benefits spa technicians, owners, managers, and health care professionals as well as physicians determine how best to help their clients, guests, and patients.

 

16-page, full-color, illustrated reference section, explaining each treatment – what happens during each treatment, which ailment or condition it is intended for, what the benefits are, and what are the contra-indications. An appendix cross-references each treatment by ailments/conditions for easy searches.

 

 

Hannelore Leavy

Hannelore Leavy has lived the spa life all her life. As a native of Vienna, Austria where spas are a way of life, in her capacity as Marketing Director of the Austrian National Tourist Office in New York City, she started to promote health vacations to European spas. Her 20+ years of experience in the promotion of travel and tourism made her a natural candidate to become “Jeffrey Joseph’s Spa‑Finders ” Vice President of Sales and Marketing and the Associate Publisher of THE SPA FINDER. She was the innovator of many of his projects, including the organization of the first Spa Symposium in 1990 from which I/SPA (International Spa Association) emerged.

Since the mid‑1980’s Hannelore has been a strong voice for the U.S. spa industry. She is considered a major source for information on spas in general and the day spa industry in particular, which she started to identify as early as 1991, publishing the first DAY SPA DIRECTORY in 1994.

Ms. Leavy went on to be the founder and executive director of THE DAY & MEDICAL SPA ASSOCIATIONS, professional trade associations dedicated to the education of the consumer as to the benefits and availability of spa treatments; for professionals to preserve and elevate the standard of spa services.  In her capacity she conducted numerous professional research / marketing studies and published various white papers on the industry, including “The Evolution & Future of the Day Spa & Medical Spa Industries”.

Hannelore has appeared on CNN Financial News and MSNBC, she has been quoted hundreds of times in all major newspapers and magazines (such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Spa Life, Newsweek, Skin Inc., Day Spa Magazine, etc.) in the US and international. She conducted workshops at most trade shows in the US and abroad throughout the past 20 years as well as key notes at the Day Spa Expo in Las Vegas, at conferences in Germany, Italy, Brazil, Argentina and China; she served on the Advisory Board of various industry publications, such as Day Spa Magazine and Spa Management Journal.

At the present Ms. Leavy is head of a specialized consulting firm that assists businesses in the spa and wellness industry in their promotion, customer satisfaction and market reach worldwide.
